This represents a personal exercise completed in Photoshop using various layer effects and paint tricks. Icons are purely generic and loosely represent what might be real game functions.
Following basic real-time strategy GUI principles, the idea here is that the world map encompasses the area to the left. The center of the screen is reserved for individual unit action and the right hand side is for miscellaneous iconography.
Completed in about 4-5 hours with a Wacom tablet. Icons are drawn free hand.
